Sheet Music Charm Necklace

Update: Due to popular demand...I am now making this necklace for my etsy shop! Necklace listing found here!

Today I'm going to show you how to make this necklace:

Supplies:
-Chain
-Clasp
-Jump Rings
-Head Pins
-Cardboard
-Sheet Music
-Heart Punch
-Modge Pog
-Wire cutters
-Needle nose pliers
-Round nose pliers

Steps:

Step 1: Punch out two heart shapes out of sheet music  (I used some left over from this project in which I had tea-stained the sheet music to make it look older!) and one out of cardboard.

Step 2: Using Modge Pog, paste the sheet music shapes onto the cardboard

Step 3: Using a hole punch (I used a really tiny metal hole puncher) punch a hole in the top middle of the heart.

Step 4: Open up a jump ring and put it into the hole.

Step 6: Coat the both sides of the sheet music with a couple more layers of Modge Pog.  Don't forget to get the sides!

Step 7: Gather up a couple different beads. Make them into charms by putting them onto a head pin, bending the wire to a 90 degree angle with needle nose pliers, trimming off the excess with wire cutters, and then forming a circle with the round nose pliers.  Attach all of these charm onto another jump ring and squeeze the circle shut with your needle nose pliers.

Step 8: Attach the jump ring with all the charms to the jump ring on the heart charm with another jump ring (jump rings are your best friends in jewelry making!!). Add a chain and clasp, and you are good to go!

Enjoy your new necklace!!

I'll be linking this project up to all the link parties in my header.

  9. Gorgeous!! I've played the piano since age 3, so this is super-appealing to me! I'm a bit intimidated by the beading part...I do lots of crafts, but jewelry making isn't really one of them. This is so pretty though that it's worth a try! Thanks so much for sharing your idea...I saw you at Sew Crafty Saturday.

  23. Adorable! I made a heart necklace, HERE, but it was clunky with the wooden hearts. Great idea to use cardboard, paper, and punch. Found you at Christina's Adventures =)

  32. I found you through A Creative Princess and I am so eXcited to do this project. My daughter has her final violin concert this year and her best friend is choosing not to continue on next year. I think I will make these for them, except for the difference being I will make a violin shape and put a date on the back. Oh, I am so excited for this GENIUS idea, what a great way to commemorate a memory for my 10 year old.
